The Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia reminded the importance of the central and regional governments to provide a clear path for investors to enter Indonesia. Therefore, the preparation of this PPI will be escorted to the pre-feasibility study document. This PPI will later become a profile of investment opportunities in the region, so that it can provide a comprehensive and detailed picture to potential investors.

“Today we are making an Investment Potential Map (PPI) as an instrument of the government's presence in facilitating the entry of investment into Indonesia. By creating this project, we became more focused. We see that there is a market, that investment is what we offer," Bahlil said in a press release on Thursday (4/8/2022).

Focus on the development of environmentally friendly new energy-based industries (EBT), so that the products produced have a competitive value in the global business world, For this reason, the Ministry of Investment/BKPM is ready to collaborate with local governments by involving local sons and daughters in promoting investment projects that can be offered to potential investors.

The 22 investment project profiles compiled in the 2022 PPI consist of 11 natural resource-based projects and 11 manufacturing industry-based projects. The clusters included in the SDA project are plantations, horticulture, food crops, livestock, fisheries and energy. Meanwhile, projects based on manufacturing industry consist of clusters of chemical industry, miscellaneous industry, metal industry, machinery industry, transportation equipment industry, and electronics.

It is hoped that this investment project will make a direct contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially for poverty alleviation, creation of decent jobs and economic growth, as well as reducing inequality.

 Promotion Strategy:

The PPI preparation activity has been started by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM since 2020 and in March 2022, 47 sustainable investment projects worth Rp 155.12 trillion were launched. There are four sectors of sustainable investment projects that have been offered, namely the tourism sector, economic zones, industry, and infrastructure spread across 33 provinces.

Through various promotional strategies carried out by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, as many as 10 of the total 47 sustainable investment projects have attracted investors, with a total investment value of Rp 39.55 trillion or 25.49% of the investment value of all projects.

Agreeing with Bahlil, the Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru assessed the importance of offering concrete investment opportunities in accordance with the target market, not only presenting data related to the area, length of coastline, or the number of people in Indonesia.

For this reason, he proposed that the Ministry of Investment / BKM provide a large storefront that displays investment potential throughout Indonesia. Regarding investment promotion, Herman assessed the need for special marketing personnel who act as facilitators between potential investors and the investment potential that is ready to be offered

We have to be clear first:

“We have to do things out of the ordinary, do things out of the box. We have to be clear first. This is like an offer like a matchmaking agency. Fans will come according to the match offered. If we talk about PMA (foreign investment), surely the answer is the Ministry of Investment," said Herman.
