US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi came to Taiwan to anger China. The country, led by Xi Jinping, has firmly said it will punish those who offend Beijing.
"This is a complete joke," said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yo on Wednesday (3/8/2022), quoted by state media, citing AFP. "The US is violating China's sovereignty under the guise of so-called democracy... Anyone who insults China will be punished," he added.
China itself is not kidding. As of yesterday, a number of measures were taken, ranging from direct-fire military operations to trade restrictions.
The first response China took on Pelosi's arrival was a military operation. It refers to military exercises for planning and organizing troops involving air, land, and sea forces, usually for security purposes. This military operation was marked by live fire being carried out in the zone surrounding Taiwan at several points. It is known that the practice distance from the coast of Taiwan is only 20 kilometers (km).
